Röchling Utilise Scopic’s X-Ray and Metal Detectable Test Facilities

Röchling Fibracon Ltd. based in High Peak (within the Derbyshire Peak District, UK) has over 4 decades of experience in compression moulding of PTFE, and CNC machining of PTFE and many other high-performance polymers.

A specific PTFE material in particular, developed for seals within the food industry, required both X-ray & Metal Detection testing to ensure peak performance. That’s where Scopic Detectable Technology came in. UK Sales Manager Robyn Eaton carried out both X-ray & Metal detectable testing on a series of material samples at Scopic’s base in South Wales, gaining a valuable insight into the processes involved as well as obtaining test data confirming the functionality of the products.

Through a series of in-house developments and procurements over the past few months, Scopic are proud to now be able to offer extensive in-house testing to their customers. Chris Vince, R&D Manager on behalf of Scopic, has over 25 years’ experience in technical support, product development and material testing. With his growing knowledge base, coupled with the facilities available on site at Scopic, the company is seeing a higher demand for this type of testing service, and welcome the opportunity to enhance the performance of detectable products across the UK and beyond.

Robyn Eaton, UK Sales Manager – Thermoplastics, had this to say: “When Röchling UK decided to develop a detectable PTFE compound we needed a technical partner. We were looking for a partner who could guide us through the process and help define what tests we could make to demonstrate the properties of our material and how to make sense of the data.

Scopic helped us through every stage. The test reports and supporting data provided are very clear and we were walked through the whole process by Chris Vince. Chris even helped us with suggestions on how we might present the data in our marketing.

I think Scopic combine technical expertise with real and genuine customer service – they are a pleasure to deal with. I’m delighted with the support and service we received, and I will certainly work with Scopic in future as and when the need arises.”
